You'll learn the fundamentals of bird identification, including natural history, preferred habitats, and expected timelines for various species along the Atlantic Flyway in New Jersey.

The course is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of bird identification and its role in land management decisions.

We offer in-person training courses as an extension of our virtual sessions, perfect for putting theory into practice. These half-day sessions are limited to groups of up to 12 people.

Our courses are led by experienced BTO staff and members who have extensive experience of BTO surveys and methodologies. They're also keen and experienced birders and trainers.

Practical sessions are carried out in small groups, allowing for a high level of tutor to participant help. This ensures that everyone gets the support they need to learn and improve their bird identification skills.

These in-person courses are only advertised to people who have participated in or registered for the associated virtual course and live within a 75-mile radius of the venue.
