TEXAS TORNADO RELIEF
Dallas Fire-Rescue Helps Assist in Tornado Aftermath
Dallas: Different events in our lives cause us to pause and put things in perspective; but none, more recently, have caused us to reflect like the recent rash of tornadoes that touched down in and around the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Through an initiative by the National Association of Hispanic Firefighters (NAHF), Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR), in an effort to help assist in the tornado aftermath, will be opening up all 56 of its fire stations to serve as collection points where the public can drop off donations of water, toiletries, clothes, diapers and other items to assist those affected. The collection period will begin on Friday, April 6th, and last through Wednesday, April 11th. Item pick-up has been coordinated with the American Red Cross, at which point they will designate a destination for the donated items depending on the where they are most needed.
“Though we weren’t impacted as much as some of the surrounding cities, it doesn’t mean we can just sit on our hands”, said Joe Veraruz, DFR firefighter and President of the local Hispanic Firefighters’ Association, when asked about the motivation to help. “Assuming the responsibilities of a public servant means that you are a servant to humanity and not just the people who live in your city”.
Media: If you are interested in covering this story, I will make myself available for sound at Dallas City Hall. Joe Veracruz if currently out of town and doesn’t look to be back until later in the afternoon; but if you would like to schedule an interview with him, he can be contacted at (972) 965-7809.

Welcome to the National Association of Hispanic Firefighters
The National Association of Hispanic Firefighters welcomes you to the latest version of our website.
As firefighters, we understand that communication is a fundamental part of impacting our community. And, in our field, it can often
mean the difference between life and death.
Because communication is so important, we want to make sure the message of the NAHF is heard by as many people as possible. That's why we created
this website and continue to improve it every day. We built this site so we can better communicate and support all of our members in
the many chapters through-out the world of our organization.
Our website will allow us to promote the values of this great organization as a reminder to all that we care about our job and the
people we work with as much as the people we work for.
We are working hard to support our members in our many chapters by building our relationships with them through
the use of modern technology and good old fashion hard work... Our new website utilizes this technology so that the NAHF is accessible to all 24
hours a day, 7 days a week.
We strive to create a user-friendly website to make this communication easy and accessible for everyone by enabling voting polls,
blogs and other interesting and easy-to-use features to our website. Since we built this website for you, we're interested in hearing
feedback about how you like it or suggestions about how to improve it.
Feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns about our website. In the mean time, enjoy all that our website has to offer.
Explore the different pages on our website to learn about what the National Association of Hispanic Firefighters
stands for and who we really are. Feel free to keep coming back to our website to check for updates about new
events the NAHF is involved in and how you can help. We thank you for your interest in the NAHF and hope you
find our website to be both interesting and informative.
