Small animal boarding providers prioritize the health and well-being of their furry guests. They have strict pet care protocols in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable stay.

Some boarding facilities have a veterinarian on staff or on call to handle any medical issues that may arise. This is especially important for pets with pre-existing conditions or chronic health issues.

A typical day at a small animal boarding facility might involve administering medication, monitoring food intake, and providing regular exercise and playtime. This helps to prevent boredom and stress, which can lead to behavioral problems.

Boarding facilities also take steps to prevent the spread of diseases, such as parvovirus and distemper, by requiring up-to-date vaccinations and quarantining new arrivals.

Boarding Options

If you're looking for a boarding option that's more like a home away from home, consider a boarding facility with private suites. These suites typically have separate rooms for your small animal, complete with a comfortable bed and plenty of space to roam.

Some boarding facilities also offer outdoor areas where animals can exercise and play. For example, a facility might have a securely fenced yard where small animals can run around and get some fresh air.

Cage-free boarding options are another great choice for small animals. These facilities often have play areas and socialization rooms where animals can interact with each other under close supervision.

A good boarding facility will also provide regular exercise and playtime for your small animal. This can include activities like playtime in a playpen or a supervised walk around the facility.

Some boarding facilities also offer specialized care for small animals with medical needs. For example, a facility might have a separate area for animals with mobility issues or those who require special medication.

Pet Care Services

Small animal boarding offers a range of services to ensure your tiny pet feels right at home.

Some boarding facilities provide individual kennels, while others may house your pet with a compatible companion.

Feeding your small pet can be a challenge, but many boarding facilities can provide pellets, hay, or other healthy meals. Some Taskers can even administer medication if needed.

To ensure your pet gets enough exercise, look for facilities with enclosed outdoor areas where they can run around.

Kennel Sizes

When choosing a kennel for your pet, the size of the kennel is an important factor to consider. The size of the kennel will depend on the type of pet and its needs.

A small kennel is ideal for small pets, measuring 3' x 6'. This size is perfect for pets that don't require a lot of space to roam around.

A medium kennel is suitable for pets that need a bit more room to move around, measuring 4' x 6'. This size is ideal for pets that are a bit larger than those that need a small kennel.

Plan ahead, as boarding is a popular service and spaces tend to book up quickly. It's a good idea to reserve your pet's space as soon as you know your dates.

Stress can be a concern for pets in a new environment, so it's essential to inform the staff at Misty Pines of any behavior or medical problems your pet may have, such as allergies, medications, or separation anxiety.
