Taizhou Zoo in Jiangsu Province, China, got creative by introducing "panda dogs" to attract visitors.

These so-called "panda dogs" are actually Chow Chow puppies dyed to mimic pandas.

Local media in Jiangsu Province confirmed that the "panda dogs" are indeed Chow Chows sporting a panda-inspired makeover.

A spokesperson from the zoo verified that the "panda dogs" were acquired by the zoo and dyed after their request to host giant pandas was rejected.

The zoo defended its choice to dye the dogs, stating that "normal people dye their hair, so dogs can dye their hair too."

However, the decision to alter the Chow Chow dogs' appearance is facing criticism from experts.

Ron Magill, director of communications at Zoo Miami, voiced concerns that zoos should focus on promoting conservation, not painting domestic animals to represent wild animals.
