Preparing Your Pet
Blue Ribbon Acres understands that each dog is an individual, as is its owner, so they work together with you to determine exercise, socialization, grooming, training, and diet for your dog during its stay.

To ensure a smooth kennel stay, it's essential to prepare your pet properly. This includes getting your dog accustomed to the kennel's climate-controlled indoor runs and exercise areas.
You'll want to introduce your dog to the kennel's indoor or outdoor exercise areas, as weather permits, to help it feel comfortable and secure. This will also help prevent any anxiety or stress during the stay.
A veterinarian on-call 24/7/365 at Blue Ribbon Acres provides peace of mind, knowing that your pet's health is being closely monitored.
To help your dog settle in, consider bringing a familiar item, like a favorite toy or blanket, to provide a sense of comfort and security.
Here's a checklist of things to consider when preparing your pet for a kennel stay:
- Get your dog accustomed to the kennel's climate-controlled indoor runs and exercise areas.
- Introduce your dog to the kennel's indoor or outdoor exercise areas, as weather permits.
- Bring a familiar item, like a favorite toy or blanket, to provide a sense of comfort and security.
About Us
We're a group of dedicated professionals who work hard to ensure the well-being of animals in Missouri. Our team is made up of 18 field staff who are committed to enforcing the state's animal care standards.

We regulate commercial activities involving dogs and cats, and our program licenses and inspects a wide range of facilities, including breeding and boarding facilities, animal shelters, and pet shops. All licensed facilities are inspected at least once per year or upon complaint.
We're proud to say that our regulation standards for space, veterinary care, and animal husbandry often exceed those of the US Department of Agriculture. This means that animals in Missouri are protected by some of the strictest regulations in the country.
All animal shelters and rescue organizations are required to be licensed, and all breeders harboring more than three intact females must be licensed or registered.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will my dog be OK in boarding kennels?
Your dog's comfort in a kennel depends on their individual personality and ability to handle isolation. If they're prone to separation anxiety, a home environment may be a better option for their well-being.
What do dogs do at boarding kennels?
At boarding kennels, dogs have their own dog runs and are taken for regular walks and playtime to ensure their physical and mental well-being. They may also receive special care if they have specific needs.
