A famous quote by philosopher Francis Bacon states that "Knowledge is Power." The National Association of Hispanic Firefighters believes very strongly in the message of this quote and we try to exemplify it in everything we do.A good education can open many new doors that can help you perform better with every obstacle life puts in front of you. We believe that a good education makes you a well-rounded person and raises your self-esteem. Having an education is especially beneficial for the world of firefighting because it provides you with excellent problem-solving skills that are absolutely essential in the event of an emergency. An education is the best way to prepare you for the life of a firefighter and for life in general.
Firefighters need to be able to think on their toes and work quickly and efficiently in a chaotic situation. An education prepares you for these situations because it provides you with the necessary skills to think quickly, problem solve, discern between right and wrong decisions and communicate effectively with other people. We encourage all our members to get educations and provide them with the resources and counseling they need in order to achieve this goal.
An education is a priceless tool that many people in other countries would feel lucky to have access to. We believe in taking full advantage of the opportunities we have in this country and one of these opportunities is the right to a decent education. Getting an education may seem intimidating and it will be a lot of work, but it's work toward bettering yourself and your ability to help others and that makes it all worthwhile.
