THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF HISPANIC FIREFIGHTERS CODE
Firefighters Code
- A set of moral principles designed and adopted by the Association as its Code of Conduct and which
charges each and every member to:
- Respect the fire service and honor the tradition of public service, maintaining the tradition of saving life and
property of citizens in your community.
- Be loyal to your brother and sister firefighter; support the democratic decisions of your Association. Have faith in
your Association’s ability to act for the benefit of all.
- Be proud of your origin and maintain your heritage, respect your community and help to defend the rights of all
people.
- Learn to discharge your duties before you learn how to assert your rights;
train and educate yourself and make yourself worthy, and stand high in the light of your own deeds; you must always be capable and courageous.
Be filled with optimism, make yourself sociable, upright, judicious and above all things, be sober and collected in your habits, cautious in your actions and sparing in your speech.
- Believe in God, Love Humanity and rely upon the framework of human progress, slow and sound, unequivocal
and firm.
- Always be honorable and high-minded; learn to be self-reliant upon your qualifications and resources.
Let your firmest purpose be that of helping to see that each new generation of Hispanic Firefighter shall be of a
youth more efficient and capable and in this let your own children be included.
